kari & nick | preview | holman ranch wedding

If you ask me, any couple who have custom made bobble head figures of themselves donning the top of their gorgeous wedding cake are the kind of people whose wedding you definitely want to attend. Kari and Nick are one such couple, and their wedding was completely filled with beauty, personal touches, elegance and a whole lot of dance floor fun. I have to thank Amy and her team at Amy Byrd weddings for making the day look so impeccable and flow so smoothly, as well as Fleurs du Soleil for doing such a great job with all of the floral designs. I can’t wait to share more from their beautiful day, but in the meantime here’s a little preview of what’s to come.

kendra & nick | rancho soquel wedding | preview

Kendra and Nick flew all the way from Germany for their Rancho Soquel wedding right here in Santa Cruz, since this is the town where they first met. I have to say that their day could not have been any more beautiful, nor more fun! There were too many amazing details and dancefloor highlights to count, some of which may have involved a flash mob dance and some German dance music that half of the crowd knew the lyrics to…full photographic evidence coming soon but in the meantime, here’s a tiny little sneak peek of the golden hour with Kendra and Nick. They’re just the sweetest couple, and Gabe and I loved documenting their day.

kari & nick | palo alto engagement session

I am one lucky photographer to get to work with couples as lovely as Kari and Nick in locations as beautiful as the foothills of California, and this engagement session is a testament to that very luck. Kari and Nick encountered some good luck of their own thanks to a chance introduction through an internet dating site, and I loved that they wanted to start their engagement session off in a cafe in front of their computers in honor of how they met. We had so much fun that afternoon, visiting some of Kari and Nick’s favorite places, including their local park and a place where they love to go hiking near the Stanford campus. Between the amazing views, the personal props, the curious cows, and the love between these two, our afternoon could not have gone any better, (especially since the cows actually listened to me when I told them, or perhaps yelled at them to stop coming so close to us.) My luck will no doubt continue when I get to photograph their wedding day up at the beautiful Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley in just a few short weeks, and I couldn’t be more excited for it!

lori & nick | northstar wedding | lake tahoe

Tahoe has to be one of my favorite places on earth, and this wedding reminded me why I especially love it in the summer. It’s the blue sky behind the majestic views, the wildflowers, the smell of the pine trees and the warm nights that I crave, and we got to enjoy all of those things throughout this amazing wedding weekend at Northstar. Lori and Nick are awesome people and they put a whole lot of themselves into this wedding, making it an intimate, fun day filled with thoughtful details. I loved that each guest was greeted with a Tahoe welcome bag and a s’mores kit for late night marshmallow roasting around the big fire pit. After the ceremony everyone enjoyed a big family-style dinner, then were lured onto the dancefloor with good music and a basket full of colored flip flops and were later welcomed to join the after-party for sliders and some more celebrating. There were so many highlights that come to mind that day, like their emotional first look, all of the great speeches and the double dutch and footloose-inspired moves on the dancefloor. This was definitely a destination wedding to remember, and we couldn’t be happier for our new friends!

lori & nick | engagement | san francisco photographer

An afternoon spent with Lori and Nick in their San Francisco world would make anyone want to move there, including me! We started on their rooftop deck with amazing views out over the city and a good game of dominos between the bride and groom-to-be, followed by a champagne toast and a tour of their favorite places to spend time together in the city. This is a couple who definitely know how to have fun together, whether it’s running through the Presidio, playing rugby (Nick played on an SF rugby team for years) or traveling the world together, (next stop Greece and Turkey.) After getting to know these two, I am SO excited to document their wedding that will no doubt be full of a whole lot of merriment and up at Northstar in Tahoe later this summer.
