kari & nick | preview | holman ranch wedding

If you ask me, any couple who have custom made bobble head figures of themselves donning the top of their gorgeous wedding cake are the kind of people whose wedding you definitely want to attend. Kari and Nick are one such couple, and their wedding was completely filled with beauty, personal touches, elegance and a whole lot of dance floor fun. I have to thank Amy and her team at Amy Byrd weddings for making the day look so impeccable and flow so smoothly, as well as Fleurs du Soleil for doing such a great job with all of the floral designs. I can’t wait to share more from their beautiful day, but in the meantime here’s a little preview of what’s to come.

lara & anthony | sneak peek | clos la chance wedding

This may have been one of the hottest weddings we’ve ever photographed but it was definitely one of the funnest! The 102 degree heat was not going to wilt the spirits of Lara and Anthony, nor their awesome bridal party, nor their beautiful florals that were created and keep well-watered by by Nicole Ha. I just loved these two and their day full of silly faces, sexy poses, romantic details, amazing food, heartfelt speeches and raunchy hip hop, all of which truly reflected the kind of couple they are. I have so many more beautiful details and memorable moments to share….but here’s a tiny little preview of what’s to come.

I had to add this one too: we were doing formal portraits when Lara’s cousins suddenly all turned around,

pulled things out of their pockets and surprised Lara and Anthony with a whole lotta facial hair…cousin portrait FTW!

kendra & nick | rancho soquel wedding | preview

Kendra and Nick flew all the way from Germany for their Rancho Soquel wedding right here in Santa Cruz, since this is the town where they first met. I have to say that their day could not have been any more beautiful, nor more fun! There were too many amazing details and dancefloor highlights to count, some of which may have involved a flash mob dance and some German dance music that half of the crowd knew the lyrics to…full photographic evidence coming soon but in the meantime, here’s a tiny little sneak peek of the golden hour with Kendra and Nick. They’re just the sweetest couple, and Gabe and I loved documenting their day.

shannon & jeff | wedding preview | oceano hotel

Shannon and Jeff are just the nicest people and they got the beautiful weather that they deserved for their wedding at the Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay. The coast was blanketed with fog throughout the morning, but some warm rays of sunshine and a blue sky appeared as if on cue just as their ceremony was about to begin. Here’s a tiny little sneak peek from when we stole these two high school sweethearts away to get their feet in the sand just before the sun set into the Pacific. A big thanks to Adrianna and her team at Dream A LIttle Dream Events for adding some extra dreaminess to the day, it couldn’t have been any better. More to come soon!

jenny & rishi | wedding preview | carneros inn napa

Jenny & Rishi’s wedding was honestly one of the most joyful, heartfelt, and beautiful events that I’ve ever documented, and I already know that I’m going to need to do a series of posts just so that I can share all of the amazing details and moments from their day at the Carneros Inn in Napa. I can’t wait to share some images from both their Indian and Western ceremonies, as well as all that fun that was had on the dance floor, but in the meantime here’s a little preview from when we snuck Jenny & Rishi away from the reception for a few moments so that they could take in their first sunset together as husband and wife.

* A huge thanks to Laurel and her team at Esla Events for making the day flow so smoothly look so lovely, and to Gabe and Ari for helping me capture it all.

sarah & gloria | seymour marine center | santa cruz wedding

It was such an honor to document this wedding! Sarah and Gloria are two people so in love, and experiencing their wedding day only affirmed my belief that we should all have the right to marry whomever we choose to. Sarah and Gloria are both incredibly kind, creative and conscious people, and everything about their wedding seemed to reflect those qualities. They chose to have their wedding at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center in Santa Cruz because they share a love of the California coast and they liked the fact that part of the proceeds from their booking went towards marine habitat preservation. They had planned on holding their ceremony outside overlooking the ocean, but just as the ceremony was scheduled to begin, it started to rain and was moved inside next to the aquarium at the last minute. I love that Sarah and Gloria gracefully rolled with the change of plans, and everyone stayed nice and warm throughout their emotional ceremony. One of my favorite moments of the day was seeing Sarah’s Dad embrace the two of them right after the ceremony, and feeling the love and support that Sarah’s parents showed Gloria and her relationship with their daughter. Sarah owns a scrapbooking supply store called Our Paper Place and she used her amazing crafting skills to create the most awesome hand-swen wedding programs I’ve ever seen, as well as many other details that made the event feel so personal. There was a wall of photos telling the story of their lives that was shaped into a giant heart, a curtain made of origami whales, table signs named after different ocean dwelling species and custom stickers used to close the boxes full of hand-made cookies that each guest got to go home with. Just to show what kind of people Sarah and Gloria are; they thanked absolutely everyone in their speech, including their photographer and insisted that we sit with their guests for dinner and take home a box of those delicious cookies. Every time I take my kids to visit the Seymour Discovery Center now I’ll think of this day with the fondest memories!
