Everything about this wedding was unconventionally beautiful and full of personality, from the rehearsal dinner beach bonfire to the fact that Lucy and Farhan didn’t have to rehearse anything at that dinner because they decided to skip a ceremony (since technically they were already married) and instead host a big wedding party up at the stunning Point Lobos Estate in the hills overlooking Carmel. Lucy is a talented artist and she filled the day with so many inventive and lovely handcrafted details, like the hanging sculpture she made to provide a visual barrier into the food preparation area using chicken wire, fabric circles and string, a console covered in photographs and topped with a piece of glass, and outdoor tables covered in hand cut fabrics and vintage bottles. I watched as both families worked in unison to transform this estate into a space that really reflected Lucy and Farhan’s style. I love that Lucy and Farhan wanted to honor their mothers, as well as each family’s heritage by having their moms prepare their favorite meals for their guests. Even the cupcakes were handmade by the bride herself….at 1am the morning before the wedding! After dinner everyone moved inside for some speeches and slideshows, which were so good they kept the room filled with laughter and tears. The evening ended with Farhan surprising everyone and placing a ring on Lucy’s finger, followed by a hip hop performance by the groom himself and more dancing. I loved this wedding and all of the warmth it brought to a foggy Carmel evening.
